beautiful PEARL

Looking for fancy french restaurants in Double Six area? worry not. You will easily find this hidden treasure in Jalan Arjuna, on the left hand side of the street when you see the sign PEARL (from direction Seminyak street). You will find narrow street that will lead you to it. Once you get here, expect a different setting compare to any french restaurant that we common see here in Bali. Pearl has beautiful garden where you can dine, enjoy the shade of the green trees or have a delightful meal under the starlight sky. The chic white dining room is available for those who would prefer air-conditioned area (ladies? they know what you like) with big mirrors and exotic lightnings, guarantee of a memorable experience. The chef, Jeremy Blanchet is talented star, young, son of the owner, who just finished his apprenticeship few years back from one of the famous one star Michelin star restaurant in Maussan, under the master chef Thierry Maffre-Boge finally decided to open his wing and start off his creative invention in this very unique restaurant using nothing but the freshest ingredients and organic delicatessen. The meal is fantastic. I would recommend les canards with special blend of french traditional touch and le seabass at its freshest with the special effect foam look alike sauce. Expect to pay around Rp. 400.000 per pax sans le vin if you wanna have fun. One thing to know, they do allow you to bring your own wine bottle. So worry not to hurt your wallet just spurge on the fabulous dish. Bon Appetit!

Fancy METIS

Another fantastic French Fancy Restaurant would be: METIS, located in Jl. Petitenget. Just went there over the weekend. If you arrive around 6pm you would still probably could catch  the sunset sky. Being sat on the ground floor, open-air spacious place with beautiful view upon you, mesmerized by the luxury of having sunset on top of our ricefield just accros your seats. The beautiful scienery almost remind me of the view in Kafe Warisan, which i will spill after this. The chef Doudou's signature Fois Gras dishes was put in its complete selection and was really tempting. The legendary Pan-seared Hot Foie Gras with a Raspberry Vinaigrette, Roasted Mushrooms stuffed with Snails and a delicious Duck Liver Paté is one of the popular dish. Obviously, they have a Grilled Black Angus Ribeye Steak with Sauce Béarnaise and Truffle Oil French Fries to die for and for seafood lovers there are a Boneless Sole Meuniere, a Trio of Fish including Swordfish with Eggplant and Lemon Beurre Blanc, Yellow Fin Tuna with Mediterranean Vegetable and Tomato Beurre Blanc and Coral Trout with Eggplant and Saffron Velouté, or you can choose the Fresh Scallops and Prawns Provencal before ordering one of the tempting desserts. This is a real fancy fine dining experience, prepare USD 90-120 for 2pax for a three-course dinner without drinks.

SIP Seminyak

It would be my numero uno destination for any special occasion: SIP restaurant in Jl. Raya Seminyak, accross bintang super market. Unforgettable Fois gras, must try! i would classify it as pricey, even native frenchman said so himself, but when you miss home, its just priceless to have exact same thing that you have back home (france). One of their delightful dish is the Steak de Beuf (Grilled Australian Rib Eye) that could be shared for 2 (its 400grams). It is superb with pomme frites ala maison. Another fantastic choice would be Les Escargots cooked with butter, garlic and secret ingredients. The delicious French Homemade cooking was prepared by French Chef Patrick Chauchereau who previously worked in several restaurants with two Michelin stars in Paris before coming to Bali. Dont forget to try our their desserts, either you choose the freshly made tarte tatin (upside down apple pie) or a cheese plate accompanied with delightful expresso. I would say, Rp. 600k per pax to have a proper treat without wine. It is a fantastic experience especially with the friendly service. They would remember your name after 2 times going there :D great guest recognition. The owner, Christian Vannequé must have brief and trained them all so well. Sip has most complete wine selection compared to other places considering the owner is someone from the wine industry himself for a long time. He does know very well the wines selection he has. The selection starts from USD 45 up to USD 3800 for a bottle of Chateau Pétrus 1993. Space wise SIP is rather tight and just like typical Parisienne Bistro, you might push a little bit here and there and enjoy the next table conversation as well. It has only 1 floor, the one inside has aircondition and also seats by the street if you enjoy the fresh air and busy bali traffic. At the moment, they are opening the 2nd Sip in Sunset Road which called Sip Grill, Wine & Bar. The place should be more spacious than the 1st restaurant and it would mostly serve grill stuff. Planning to have dinner there this Thursday for my birthday. Will definitely share it with you guys.. ^^

fancy french restaurants in seminyak area

My favorite subject it is :) I can never have enough of french food, the butter and desserts. having studied in the country of Cheese has made me addicted of French food! They are all yummy and so delightful! Every bites is really special and full of memory. Thank God, Bali is such international island. It is super easy to find any kind of cuisine that you crave for, from Moroccan fusion, Greek, Russian delicatessen, up to yummy chilly crab is available. As for me, French food is the divine, directly straight to heaven.
There are so many places in the area that offer you Western food but if you are looking for something authentic, I would recommend the below:

  • sip numero uno: SIP restaurant in Jl. Raya Seminyak, accross bintang super market. Global Warming in Bali?

Unbelievably hot these lately!
Although you are in the air-conned room or car, you might wanna bring ice pack to cool down your body temperature. It gets up to 38 degree Celsius here in the street of Bali. Watch out the sunburns!

bali garden party (29-30 oct 2011)

beautiful bali garden party!
it seems like a real good event, Bali Garden Party is a special charity event for under privileged kids. The event is taking place at Taman Bhagawan, Tanjung Benoa. i have been wanting to go there for a long time but it was not open for public. so, this morning i purchased 2 tickets for adults and 1 ticket for child cost IDR 250.000 (USD 30). we are planning to go there later on in the afternoon. there are music entertainment, illusion show, cabaret show, dog & flower show. Kids area with fun activities, Horse show, Poby rides, talk show. The event was real succesfull. I hope they made lots of charity for the one who needs it. Unfortunately, it was raining on Sunday. Probably abit wet but hey, the kids had fun! That is the main thing :D http://www.baligardenparty.com/

it finally rains out there

it was dark. i was still under the comfortable of my warm blanket. i heard my 2 years old baby girl, was singing herself a lullaby, next to me. she loves to sing. when she finally decided to go out of the room, i glance through my blackberry to check what the time was. still 8.17am. hubby still tucked in bed next to me. i smell the rain outside. i thought i was dreaming. it hasn't been raining for months down here in the south of Bali where we live. Whereas our folks in the upper north already got plenty. it was a hard night, last night. i was having an emotional breakdown since i was about to let go some of my projects. but this rain, bring me new hope. this rain bring new hope for Mbok Made. so that the grass will grow and she can easily feed her cows. no need to buy grass from the northern folks. the cows no longer need to eat from banana trunk. the rain came and washed away the droughts of our hearts. please come again.
